Manchester United news: Paul Ince says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken club to ‘another level’ but claims he could have turned them around
Paul Ince says he did not claim anyone could have turned Manchester Uniteds fortunes around and believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken them to a different level. The former Red Devils midfielder had previously said people should not get too sucked in by what Solskjaer has done.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer celebrates a goal against PSG3

He also believed that his old club should try to get Mauricio Pochettino from Tottenham Hotspur.Ince clarified those previous comments he made and says he is delighted to see United get better and better as the weeks go on.When I said anyone couldve done the job Ole has done, I didnt literally mean anyone. Thats been taken completely out of context, he told news.paddypower.com.What I said was that someone like Mark Hughes or Steve Bruce, who has the history and spirit of the club, could have gone in there initially and turned it round.Paul Ince says Solskjaer has taken United to ‘another level’getty3

The team were down in the dumps, unhappy, and werent playing the way they wanted to play. We all knew that.If Id have gone into United, Id have done exactly what Ole did. Id have got a smile back on the players faces, got them enjoying training again, and told them to go out and play the way they want to play. That wasnt hard to resolve, because we saw the negativity coming out of Old Trafford.”Ince admitted that Solskjaer has taken United to another level following their spectacular win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The early fixtures helped Ole, he added. No one is right to say I was wrong everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion was my opinion. As I said, initially, getting the players smiling was the first phase for Ole. I still believe anyone could have done that that knows the United way. What I would admit is, since then, Ole has taken it to another level. We expected them to beat the first so-called lesser teams that they played. But, now, what were seeing is hes taken it to a completely different level. That love for Ole from the players, that change of mood, it hasnt worn off. Its just got better and better, and Im over the moon about it.

Ince also feels that Solskjaer has proven himself over a long enough period of time that he should be handed the job on a permanent basis.Ole has completely changed the environment they were in, because clearly it was negative under Jose Mourinho. Players should want and love to come to training, and now they do.If you were saying to me that Mourinho had been at the club for years and hed won a load of trophies and titles, then Ole comes in, its a much more difficult job. It was completely the opposite, which made it easier for him to come in.Solskjaer celebrates with Marcus Rashford3

At the end of the day, what I said made sense. Someone who knew the club could have improved the mood there, but Ole has taken that to another level.I never said Ole wasnt the right man, I just said he needs to prove himself over a period of time before a rash decision is made. But I think hes done that, I really, really do.
