Fortunately, the building had been undergoing restoration work which meant some precious artefacts and statues were already out of harms way.And billionaire Pinault, who owns French luxury group Kering – which includes Saint-Laurent and Gucci, has promised to make the donation to rebuild the famous landmark.“My father [Franois Pinault] and I have decided to release as of now from the funds of Artemis a sum of 100 million euros to participate in the effort that will be necessary for the complete reconstruction of Notre Dame,” Pinault wrote in a statement posted on Twitter. Leaders from around the world have expressed support, pledging to help France rebuild the famous structure, with Boy De La Tour also vowing the LFP will do what it can.“The world of (French) football will mobilise to help financially rebuild this cathedral which is part of our heritage,” said Boy De La Tour, as reported by L’Equipe.“This is a help that we will coordinate with all players in football. We will be in solidarity in this drama that affects us all. It touched us a lot.”
